Modifications Jill made to the Summit, #2897:
- Created a greater sense of intimacy in
the living and dining rooms by adding a see-thru fireplace
between them.
- Added French doors leading to the patio
in the dining room.
- Removed the desk in the eating area
to provide a pantry wall.
- Rearranged the layout of the kitchen
to make the cooktop and hood a focal point. The revised
plan is more efficient and includes a second oven, warming
drawer and larger snack bar.
- Moved the laundry room into the home office space.
This not only separated it from the rear foyer entry, it
also allowed Jill to combine it with a family activity center,
complete with a computer area, lots of cabinets and counters
for hobby work.
- Added a closet and a drop zone to the
rear entry.
- Moved the French doors in the gathering
room (now called a media room) next to the eating area and
included an extra wide window on the back wall. Moving the
doors (and changing them to a single door) provided more
flexibility for furniture placement.
- Like many busy professionals, Jill wanted a second laundry
room on the upper level. This was accomplished by converting
the third bedroom into a laundry room with a soaking
sink and lots of storage. This also provided space for a
larger linen closet and a half bath.
- Added a coffee bar to the master bedroom.
