Ann found her ideal home plan; she made a few tweaks and
now it’s perfect!
Homeowner’s Profile: Ann and her husband
are busy professionals who have no children. They were drawn
to the Hawthorne’s charm and space, but they wanted
the living areas to be more open -- allowing easy flow from
one area to the other when entertaining large groups.

Modifications Ann made to the Hawthorne,
#2799:
- Flipped the kitchen and the gathering room. This allowed
them to create a large island with a 42-inch snack bar in
the kitchen.
- Added a 2-sided fireplace between the new hearth room
and great room and eliminated one of the walls between the
great room and the new hearth room. The other wall was retained
to define the hearth room and provide a wall for the television
in the great room.
- Converted the dining room to a large office with French
doors.
- On the lower level, left more space in the garage, removed
the fireplace, moved the utility room, widened the wet bar
and added an exercise room.
- Changed the rear foyer to make it more functional, with
a larger laundry room and a drop zone.
