A Woman’s Perspective - Home Plan

Jenny found her ideal home plan; she made a few tweaks and now it’s perfect!

Homeowner’s Profile: Jenny, a college professor, and her husband Jeff, a consultant who works out of their home, needed separate office spaces. The couple has two sons, ages 4 and 6. Because they frequently entertain big and little people, they opened up the main level and created a nice media space on the upper level.

Modifications Jenny made to the Athens, #5523:

  1. Added square footage by squaring off the back of the home.
  2. Took out the peninsula to open the kitchen to the great room and switched the kitchen and breakfast area.
  3. Created a large, hidden walk-in pantry – accessible through a cabinetry door.
  4. Moved the island and added seating.
  5. Moved the laundry room to the rear foyer, creating a pocket office in the vacated space.
  6. Created a larger laundry with lots of cabinetry and a craft area in the former dining room.
  7. Added a drop zone and closet off the garage entrance.
  8. Added a linen closet between the vanities in the master bath.
  9. Created a large media room upstairs, absorbing Bedroom 4 and the open space above the front entry.
